Why I chose health and fitness…

Why I chose health and fitness…

So I honestly struggled with weight management after I gave birth. Not because I could not loose baby weight, but because of the constant cravings I had after I stopped breastfeeding. I also did not realize how difficult it was to find a female trainer who had a body to envy that  had a child, especially by cesarean. That was important because getting in shape after a c section can be difficult. People want to hire someone that knows the struggle. So, when I could not find one, I became one. I studied hard and trained hard. My next mission was to work with nutrition. In order to have an effective fitness program, you must have the food in order. Therefore, I became a weight management (nutrition) consultant. Like the fancy name, huh! Me too 🙂 So there you have it, I became the thing that I was looking for. I do not just do it, i live it. I love what I do, because it makes people happy and that makes me happy! Shout out to all the fitness and nutrition specialist, our goal is to make everyone happy, one jumping jack at a time!!

Crawling and Walking

Crawling and Walking

My daughter decided that she didn’t want to crawl until she was 10 months old. Of course that freaked me out. I read all the books and websites about how my child should develop and although they say it’s ok, she should have crawled a tad earlier. This was my OCD parenting thought. Walking was a whole different journey. She waited until she was 17 months to get up and walk clear across the room. Once again, I was in panic mode by her first birthday. I say all of this to say…..Relax!! The books and websites will make you lose your mind. Her doctor said that she would like her to crawl until she is almost 18 months. Each child develops differently, even siblings. My daughter could identify ear, eyes, mouth and nose, go to her potty,  had a mouth full of teeth and spoke 6 words clearly before choosing to walk. The best advice I can give, use the books if you like but remember that a ton of things are normal. It wasn’t that she COULDN’T crawl or walk, she didn’t want to. I was that research obsessed parent that knew everything that the books told me. Once again, RELAX. It’s already hard enough being a parent, just focus on loving and teaching them. The rest will fall into place as you learn.

Educating your baby

Educating your baby

So there are several debates about homeschooling, public school and private school. Even if you are pregnant with your first child, you have probably thought about this many times. There are advantages to each one, it’s a personal opinion. I do wonder how many people would have loved the opportunity to have their child/children homeschooled. I’ve recently met some homeschooled children and they are quite social and intelligent. Many people love the social aspect of traditional schooling, which is fine as well. As long as you are making the decision that you know is the best, then it’s the right one. So relax, they will be fine.

After breastfeeding weight gain

After breastfeeding weight gain

I am not sure just how many women have experienced what I am about to discuss, but here goes. As women we have a ton of issues that surround pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. Guys, I know that we may drive you crazy with our emotional roller coaster, but we mean no harm! It is all so overwhelming sometimes. I had an issue with weight gain after I stopped breastfeeding. I dropped most of my baby weight within a month of giving birth and I was excited. Within the coming months, it shedding even faster. Well, after I stopped breastfeeding, I noticed that my clothes got tighter, and of course my breast got smaller. What was going on?? My breast were smaller then before I became pregnant. I now had a belly that made me look four months pregnant. Can you say depressing!! My husband was super supportive, but I was annoyed with the change. I am sure that a book somewhere describes this weight gain, but I did not care. I felt bamboozled! I did light exercise, but it was not helping at all! I started the Mutu System, but gave up 3 times. In February my daughter turned 1, that was my turning point. I decided to really get into my routine, restarted Mutu and began clean eating. I finally see progress!

Anyone else have this experience??

Snot, sneezes and a ton of Boogie Wipes

Snot, sneezes and a ton of Boogie Wipes

BOOGIE WIPES!!! These perfect little moistened wipes specifically created to clean your little ones nose. They keep them from drying out and babies and children seem to love them. I know I do!

So my daughter would technically have been sick for 3 weeks. Doctors tend to tell you that they have to work through a cold and send you on your way after you’ve paid your co-pay. This may be the 3rd time you have visited in the last few weeks, but still, just a cold. They are quite diligent though with thorough checks. So. I did a little research, only to find out that it s not a cold. In fact, it is allergies and teething. The combination led to a mild ear infection, but a ton of mucus, sneezing and a rash. It resembled a cold so much that it seemed like an easy diagnoses, especially with no fever. Her doctor and I narrowed it down due to my extreme food allergies and I don’t think her eczema helped much. The mucus and stuffy nose were a concern to me because she wasn’t sleeping due to being uncomfortable. So, I took an oil burner and used water on top verses oil, added chamomile, eucalyptus and peppermint oil. She opened up and slept like a baby. She has an appointment with an allergy specialist soon!

Tip: please remember to inform your pediatrician of any allergies, asthma or eczema that you may have. That can help the child’s diagnoses. Don’t be afraid to use essential oils!!!!!
