Toddler Times…

Toddler Times…

Helllllllllllo!!!! Hoping that everyone is doing well! How are those beautiful babies?? Well mine is now 20 months. Does anyone else hate saying that? I just say a year and a half. So I have an independent little teddy bear on my hands. She is currently sweeping the floor which is cracking me up. She has to do everything herself and she’s pretty sure that she is doing it right! So my tip for the day is about picky eaters. Fortunately I do not have one, but my friends do and I gave them this suggestion. Make a smoothie, especially since it is flu season. The smoothie should consist of their favorite fruit with a pediatrician/toddler approved superfood powder and milk or water. I put banana, spinach, almond milk and a superfood mix in my daughters. Her immune system is so much stronger now. She use to have a constant runny nose, but ha!! No more!! So, that’s my tip, a great healthy smoothie that taste fruity!  Hopefully they love it and you will love buying less tissue and doctors visits.

P.S Make enough for you to drink too!

Why I chose health and fitness…

Why I chose health and fitness…

So I honestly struggled with weight management after I gave birth. Not because I could not loose baby weight, but because of the constant cravings I had after I stopped breastfeeding. I also did not realize how difficult it was to find a female trainer who had a body to envy that  had a child, especially by cesarean. That was important because getting in shape after a c section can be difficult. People want to hire someone that knows the struggle. So, when I could not find one, I became one. I studied hard and trained hard. My next mission was to work with nutrition. In order to have an effective fitness program, you must have the food in order. Therefore, I became a weight management (nutrition) consultant. Like the fancy name, huh! Me too 🙂 So there you have it, I became the thing that I was looking for. I do not just do it, i live it. I love what I do, because it makes people happy and that makes me happy! Shout out to all the fitness and nutrition specialist, our goal is to make everyone happy, one jumping jack at a time!!

After breastfeeding weight gain

After breastfeeding weight gain

I am not sure just how many women have experienced what I am about to discuss, but here goes. As women we have a ton of issues that surround pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. Guys, I know that we may drive you crazy with our emotional roller coaster, but we mean no harm! It is all so overwhelming sometimes. I had an issue with weight gain after I stopped breastfeeding. I dropped most of my baby weight within a month of giving birth and I was excited. Within the coming months, it shedding even faster. Well, after I stopped breastfeeding, I noticed that my clothes got tighter, and of course my breast got smaller. What was going on?? My breast were smaller then before I became pregnant. I now had a belly that made me look four months pregnant. Can you say depressing!! My husband was super supportive, but I was annoyed with the change. I am sure that a book somewhere describes this weight gain, but I did not care. I felt bamboozled! I did light exercise, but it was not helping at all! I started the Mutu System, but gave up 3 times. In February my daughter turned 1, that was my turning point. I decided to really get into my routine, restarted Mutu and began clean eating. I finally see progress!

Anyone else have this experience??

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding

Ok, if I eat one more bowl of oatmeal, take one more fenugreek, or drink one more cup of Mothers Milk or Breastea tea, I’m going to scream!!!!! Anyone else thinking the same thing? Ahhh, but i wouldn’t change a thing! People often give parenting advice, but leave out some key points. On a more serious note, the things that I just listed, really help increase my milk flow. When Brooklyn was 4 1/2 months, my supply got so low that I had formula on the kitchen counter with a sad look on my face. I felt terrible that my milk was lacking, but I was not going to not feed my child. However, I decided that I would feed her the stored milk and power pump, eat oatmeal, drink the tea and take fenugreek until I ran out of milk. To my surprise, it worked and I was back on track 🙂 some times the right side lags, but the left side keeps up. Another thing, these sweet cravings are absolutely incredibly crazy!! I have never been a big sweet eater, but breastfeeding has changed me!
*Inspiration: just because it may be low, doesn’t mean it’s gone. And if you must use formula, it’s ok, your child’s proper nourishment is most important!

Breastfeeding Q and A

Breastfeeding Q and A

So I recently read an article in the Time magazine about Jamie Lynne Grumet, who is the cover story. She breastfeeds her 3 almost 4 year old son off her breast to induce or continue bonding. It is called attachment parenting. Dr Sears discusses this alot, along with baby carrying in a sling, and co-sleeping. As a breastfeeding mom, I am curious to hear the thought of others on this topic. Grumet feels that children should wean themselves at their own pace. Do you think that a child should wean them self off the breast? Do you think she should pump versus feeding a toddler off her breast? Do you think it will have lasting psychological effects? She says that her mom breastfed her from the breast until she was 6 years old and she remembers. Is it different for a young boy?? Please join this conversation with respect for others opinions, great opinions give great insight. Does anyone have first hand experience with breastfeeding a toddler? Co-sleeping or sling wearing? Looking forward to the comments!
